Oh, jennybabble blog, how I’ve neglected thee. I’ve thought about you a lot over the past several months, but haven’t checked in at all. Long story short, I’m pregnant! And that’s why I haven’t written in so long. Well, sort of. Mainly because I’ve been writing here instead after winning a pregnancy blogging contest, but also because the “first” trimester “morning” sickness and fatigue took over my life well into the second trimester.
Anyhow, I’ve been busy and thought I’d share pics from my latest project. Chri and I both agree that a nursery is more for the parents than it is for the child. Babies can’t even see properly for the first 8-12 months of their lives, but we will be in there 12+ times a day or so changing diapers and feeding him/her, so we’d better like it. Turns out they don’t make cool crib sheets and change pad covers unless you order them online and spend big bucks to get them, so I made my own.
I followed this crib sheet tutorial, but added extra elastic to make the sheet fit more snugly. I made my own pattern for the change pad cover because I couldn’t find a good one that followed the curves of the change pad, but I did take inspiration for the two-coloured look from here. I made three sets, and love them!

I’m pretty excited to not have generic, pastel-y sheets for this little kidlet! I’m currently working on a couple of other projects too… One is toilet paper art for above the crib (similar to, but different from what I made for the living room). Sounds tacky, but I think it’s going to be awesome!
The other project is considerably bigger and I’m a little nervous about it. I’m making my own cloth diapers. I’m going to make a bunch but also purchase some, so just in case they don’t work as well I’ll have a few back-ups on hand until I can order more. Too bad I don’t have friends out here with babies to test them out on ahead of time!
Have you got any fun projects going on right now?
